Hampshire College Shotokan Karate is affiliated with Shotokan Karate of America (SKA), a nonprofit organization teaching traditional karate-do in the United States since 1955. Our instructor at Hampshire is godan (fifth degree black belt) Marion Taylor. SKA's chief instructor is Tsutomu Ohshima, a direct student of Shotokan founder Gichin Funakoshi. For more information about SKA and our style and philosophy of karate, please see the SKA website at www.ska.org.

Hampshire Shotokan classes are offered for all levels, from beginner to advanced, and include a mix of students and area residents. Practices are held in the Robert Crown Center.

Hampshire Shotokan hosts the annual East Coast Summer Special Training, as well as occasional other regional gatherings and events.
